Announcements

  • To Our Wonderful Church Family and Friends

God is so good!  These last two weeks have been such a sweet time of loving on my dad through his last few days and hours of this physical life, and then celebrating his life and ministry in a way that truly showed his love for his Savior and others.

Monica and I want to express our sincerest and deepest appreciation to our church family and friends who have been such an amazing blessing, encouragement, and help through this time.  Many attended, many have sent cards, many have called, and we even returned to an office of gifts in remembrance.  Oh, how sweet these are and will be in the days and years to come.

My father loved each of you.  He spoke often of you individually, asking about each of you.  I remember the day he came forward saying that I want to be a blessing to this church as they have been a blessing to me.  I want to help Shea knock on every single door in this community and help them see that Utica Baptist Church loves them with a love that comes from God.

Thank you for loving my father, me and my family.  God is so amazingly good.  Though our earthly hearts may sorrow, our spirit rejoices for we do not sorrow like those who have no hope; we know that Jesus Christ is coming back and what day that will be.

    With Deepest Love,

    Pastor Shea Hicks and Family

  • Return to IN PERSON Service Sunday, May 24, 2020

The Psalmist David writes in the 122 Psalm.  I was glad when they said to me, “let us go into the house of the Lord.”

Over the last couple of months, we as a nation and community have entered a season of daily changes.  With these changes, we have been unable to physically meet together to worship.

But the psalmist also writes, “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise, be thankful unto him and bless His name.”

I hope and pray that this has been a daily experience for you.  It may be during a daily time of Bible reading, or merely enjoying a time of fresh air as we observe the vast expanse of His creation.  But, I pray that throughout your day, you see the majesty and power of God at work in our lives.

This Sunday, we are so excited to know that we will once again be able to come together in corporate worship.  With this opportunity, we want to take just a few minutes and share with you what that will look like and what we are asking as we invite you to come this Sunday and join us as we worship together.

The first thing we would like to share is that beginning a week before we were asked to stop public services together, we made a decision to begin streaming our services on Facebook Live.  We did this out of a recognition that many in our congregation fell into a “more at risk” population and might be better served by providing a way for them to worship with us from home.

We will continue to stream our services each week on Facebook live at 11:00.  This has been a great experience for both those who regularly attend and others in our community.

As we are now able to gather together again physically, we want you to feel free to join us in whatever way you feel most comfortable.  For some, this may involve you continuing to join us each week via livestream, but for others who want to join us physically, let me lay out for you what you will see as you come this week and for the next few weeks.

As you enter the church, we are asking that each one in attendance use the main outside entry to the auditorium.  You will notice that the doors will be propped open in order to limit unnecessary contact with door surfaces.

As you enter the building you will find a table that has been placed here with hand sanitizer and welcome materials.  Please feel free to make use of these items.

Next you will enter the auditorium.  The pews have been cleaned and sanitized both following our last service and again this week.  We have chosen not to restrict any pews, but are asking that the guidelines that have been given regarding one family to a pew and maintaining 6 feet of social distance be observed.

We would like to ask that each attendee remain in the auditorium.  The upstairs has been closed off and the stairs to the fellowship hall education floor has been roped off.  We know and understand that it may be necessary for you to use the restrooms and we want these to be available to you should you need them.  The restrooms have been cleaned and disinfectant wipes have been placed for your use.

During the worship service we will have a time of singing, prayer, and message from God’s word.  We are also excited to honor our high school graduates and recognize our elementary and middle school grads.

Please feel free to join us this Sunday at 11:00.   Come Worship, Grow and Serve with Us this week.
